 Asthma 

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma causes recurring periods of wheezing (a whistling sound when you breathe), chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. The coughing often occurs at night or early in the morning. Asthma affects people of all ages, but it most often starts during childhood.

    Figure A shows the location of the lungs and airways in the body. Figure B shows a cross-section of a normal airway. Figure C shows a cross-section of an airway during asthma symptoms.

Causes of Asthma

Although the cause of asthma is unknown, a number of things that can increase your chances of developing the condition have been identified. These include:
  • childhood exposure to tobacco smoke, particularly if your mother also smoked during pregnancy  
  • Airborne allergens, such as pollen, animal dander, mold, cockroaches and dust mites
  • Respiratory infections, such as the common cold
  • Air pollutants and irritants, such as smoke
  • Cold air
  • Genetic

 Symptoms of Asthma

some common symptoms of Asthma are:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest tightness or pain
  • Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing
  • A whistling or wheezing sound when exhaling (wheezing is a common sign of asthma in children)
  • Coughing or wheezing attacks that are worsened by a respiratory virus, such as a cold or the flu

2. Internet Connectivity-The internet allows greater flexibility in working hours and location, especially with the spread of unmetered high-speed connections.
3. Use of Video for Classwork and Homework-Video is another tool that has been on the rise in recent years.
4. Mobile Devices for Schoolwork- Students are leveraging mobile devices both to be more efficient in their day-to-day tasks and to transform their own learning processes.

1. Goggle docs- Multiple people can work in a document at the same time, making collaboration simple.Google Docs links to a Gmail account, so students can easily move from school to home to library while still being able to access their work.
2. Google forms- Whether you want to send a quiz to or organize a field trip,Google forms can help you distribute and gather information. 


3. Word press- Create a class website or blog on this free, easy-to-use site. Teachers of younger students can keep parents informed of class activities and upcoming events.Teachers of older students can link to interesting websites, launch online discussions, and post study guides.

4. EduBlogs- This is an easy way to get students writing more without the formality of an essay or research paper.
 
 5. WikiSpaces- This is a great place for group or classroom projects because multiple users can edit documents. Or, use it to build an educational wiki full of quality websites and reference materials for your students.
